With Amazon buying Whole Foods for $14BB, Amazon is likely going to completely transform the retail industry.  Walmart low cost model with raisor thin margins just got shaken up- I would be concerned for Walmart long term prospects

I am excited to see how Amazon bridges the gap with retail and online leveraging this acquisition.  They may bring a flavor of the amazon go automated checkout back.  
Walmart has excellent supply chain, but no way they can compete with scale and automation of Amazon

Amazon has created a service that Walmart alone can not provide; they base their company largely off of shipping. Now that they're incorporating food they try to further simplify/make convenient another basic need, which is revolutionary (and can either be very good or very bad). Either way, they're probably going to blow any competition out of the water.

Amazon Go, amazon Basics will have a nice playground.  Just like Apple, Microsoft and other tech companies established successful physical stores to showcase their products - Amazon is taking a similar approach
